The Big Shout Out

We’ve all had a mentor.

Here’s an easy way to acknowledge them.

Doesn’t cost a cent, just a minute of your time.

We all have a special someone who’s made a difference in our lives. Parents, teachers,

coaches, sisters, brothers, friends, the list goes on. Most of us wish we could thank them but

it never seems to be the right time or the right place. Until now.

The Big Shout Out is an initiative that acknowledges and celebrates mentors across

Canada. It’s all a part of the 100th anniversary of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada in 2013.

While it’s a wonderful organization, this campaign is not meant to promote Big Brothers Big

Sisters but rather the broader theme of mentorship.

What You Can Do. Help build shout outs all across the country! We’d simply like you

to tell us about your mentor starting January 14, 2013 at thebigshoutout.caThe messaging

is up to you. The angle is up to you. The tone is up to you. You can tell us about whomever

you want; however you want.

Take a minute to celebrate someone who made a difference in your life. It’s easy. Why not give

a BIG SHOUT OUT today?

Hey there sports fans!!

Scribbles Boutique is now offering REVIEWS!

Do you have a business that you would like to get noticed, get more fans or advertise some new great products? Let me help!

Beginning in December 2012 I will be posting reviews.  I am looking for businesses to send me a product or do a service that I can test out and review. The product is sent to me at their expense and is something I can keep for free. I suggest that it be a product that you are the most comfortable with, that you feel will get the best feed back.

In return, I will test it out, do a write up and then post it to my website. This acts as advertising to your company as it gets your name out there AND your product info and reviews.  I am going to do some for free {for a limited time} to get started but later this will be a paid service to account for the advertising that will be listed on my website.

Send me an email if you would like to have me do a review for your product or service :):) Act quick before I book up with the free reviews!

scribblesboutique@gmail.com

Thanks!

*Please note that reviews will begin in December, if we have done business in the past this does not count as part of the review process. Thank you.

The Smile Epidemic

Hi everyone!

Have you all heard of The Smile Epidemic? It has been flooding my Facebook home page for a few days now and I have to say, I really enjoy it! Basically each day a person writes on a piece of paper (with a smile) what made them smile that day. It has been so refreshing to see so many positive posts!

“Your smile is a simple expression of happiness. We suggest taking note of what makes you smile for 30 days and then measuring how that impacts your life :) ” ~ The Smile Epidemic Facebook Page.

I’ve had a rough month and a half. My dog required emergency surgery that cost us about $4000. It was scary for my puppy, not to mention hard on my bank account.  We have had various colds in the McAuley house since my oldest son started junior kindergarten.  Sleepless nights.  I fell down the stairs on my way down to do the laundry and we thought that I had absolutely broken my tail bone (feels a lot better now – phew!). We broke the camera in my iphone while changing the battery (upsetting to me because if you know me, I take A LOT of pictures each day of my kids growing up).  I had a few upset customers because my response time was slower than usual with everything going on and then last week my dad had a heart attack one day and a few days later he passed out in public, while alone, and needed to go back to the hospital.

Life has been overwhelming some days. I’ve felt exhausted. I’ve felt on edge. I’ve been scared. I’ve cried.

Then I saw The Smile Epidemic Facebook page. I thought, Wow, this is EXACTLY what I need right now. I need to focus on the positive and not on everything that is going wrong lately.

Since my iphone camera is broken I have not been taking a daily picture of what makes me smile, instead, behind my desk on my wall I leave a sticky note each day. Here’s my wall so far.

It’s really helping me to come down to my desk and see all the things making me smile. To see that life can be hard, but there is also so much to be thankful for.

Thank you Smile Epidemic, thank you for helping me to see all that makes me smile each and every day.

A visit with Lynn River Farms

A little while ago I posted a status update on Facebook that I was making goat tags…yup…goat tags! You may remember seeing this picture…

The thought of how cute they were made me giggle and I just HAD to go and meet these little fellas! Here is my son Aiden with Jake and Everitt,  Lynn River Farms newest additions, beautiful baby goats!

Meet Jake. He absolutely LOVES to snuggle! Who knew goats snuggle?

This little guy laid his head on my neck and had a nice little rest with me, totally content to just be held in my arms.

Cooper is another new addition, a cute puppy! He enjoys chasing everyone around and grabbing onto them. My boys would start walking and much like our puppy at home, this little guy would grab ahold of their shorts and not let go. Cooper enjoys a good belly rub. How cute is he?

Lynn River Farm animals have access to outdoors, fresh air and sunshine. They use 100% certified organic seeds.  Although they have chosen not be ‘certified’ organic they follow all organic principles and do not use any chemical fertilizers or synthetic pesticides. Last year we had the pleasure of getting to know the owners and participated in their CSA program, it was fabulous and we highly recommend it!

Some of what will be grown in their garden this season:Beans, beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, chard, corn, cucumbers, eggplant, herbs, kale, lettuce varieties, leeks, melons, onions, pumpkin, snap peas, sweet and hot peppers, radishes, spinach, tomatoes, squash and zucchini.

If you would like more info on their farm or CSA program please visit http://www.lynnriverfarm.com/ You’ll be glad you did!
